The Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) is a State-created agency which exists in every county in California. The Commission is responsible for working closely with citizens, the county, cities and special districts on a variety of issues concerning jurisdictional change.
LAFCO's statutory purposes include the discouragement of urban sprawl and the encouragement of orderly governmental boundaries based upon local circumstances and conditions.
This Web site is designed to provide you with helpful information in understanding and working with LAFCO.
